another F2B success story it seems.

we wish you well and support you in your ‘new’ relationship.

its when we finally fall in love with another person of the same sex we realise that our sexual orientation is not actually about sexual behaviour its about being able to connect with another human being at the most intimate, loving and supportive levels and build a future together.

Hi Iain,

I loved your speech! I would love to show it to my own family who can not grasp the fact that I am out of the closet and living my life as a gay Christian man. Thank you for sharing that, it truly was an inspiration to me. I could just picture a room full of crowded people hanging off of every word you said. Seems to me, once the word “gay” or “homosexual” is spoken it gets everyones undivided attention.

What courage that must have taken to read such an honest speech about yourself. That truly was amazing!

Thank you,

John

Thanks John for saying that!

Hmmm …it was a very strange time when I did my speech but as I’ve said, for the most part, it has been an increadibly positive experience …and continues to be this amazing journey!

I still shake my head and wonder how I allowed myself to be so tormented and so full of self-hatred?? …then find that this is tragically so common for so many from the Christian world.

It is remarkable to be loving life on ‘the other side’ of the closet door and find it very humbling that there are so many straight Christians out there who are still willing to speak up for the injustice. Not just the (award winning) 100 Revs brave ‘potentially job-losing’ entry at this year Mardi Gras but all those (I’ll name names …Vanessa, Paul, Erin and Rowland …to name a few) who, in regular conversation, will happily correct/argue any misleading views of ‘my existence’ by ignorant people (of which are just a loud few). In the words of Bishop Spong “…the debate is over, walk in the victory”

…I’ll stop there before it turns into some tragic sermon! hahahaha.. ha ..ahem…

Iain, it is so true what you said….

Talk about perfect timing on your post! Last night I came across some emails I had written to a friend three years ago, right before I separated from my ex wife. I just shook my head, it felt like I was reading someone elses story, I could not believe how far I have come on my own jurney and I was suddenly so thankful to God for getting me through such a horrible time. Im so glad I broke out of that prison I put my self in trying so desperately to be “normal” It has been such a crazy ride, but Im so greatful I jumped on and didnt wait a second longer to be who I truly was.

I’m trying to add my bit to the ‘mythbusting’…

…by having a photographic portrait exhibition about gay/lesbian and straight Christians who attempt to bridge the gap between the gay and Christian communities. I’m half way through my project but the good news is …

…I have secured exhibition space in Surry Hills for Feb/Mar in 2009!

I am already working through my list of subjects for the artworks …but if you know of anybody (particularly straight people) …who have a very interesting stories that should be told, then please drop me a message.

Thanx

iain
