Hi Iain.

I just read your story. I can so relate. I posted my story on the “My Story’ forum if you are interested. Well done for taking a stand. I don’t even know if I could do. I think I would rather just resign than go through that. Unfortunately finances won’t allow me to resign so I’ll have to hang in there til I find another job. The bigotry and ignorance I have heard in the staffroom at my school defies belief and if weren’t for the love of the people at my church, The Salvation Army, my faith would have gone out the window.

Hi Iian…..Your post encouraged me to tell my own story..under spiritual abuse. It sure is such a relief to stand up and tell workmates and your church that you are gay. I am the most emotionally and psychologically whole I have ever been since fully coming out and I am a psychologist so I should know..tehe!! I just thought I should warn you though that we LGBTI people cause all manner of hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes…Haiti and Sandy were God's warnings against nations that support gay marraige!! That's the latest newsflash from my local pulpit…and should by some trillion to trillion to infinity chance that the Mayans had it right on Dec 21 when the world ends it will have been because of us. You are a true inspiration mate I look forward to reading your posts, Stay strong in who you are……thanks for all you have shared.

Blessings in Him Jilly

Hey Jilly

Thanks for the encouraging words and hope your journey continues to get stronger!!

I don't go to the meetings or get on the forum nearly as much as I would like, but reading back only confirms to me how great Freedom2be is …especially that it is not actually a Christian organization. In other words, an organization without a spiritual agenda for it's members …that way people like you and I (and perhaps a lot of other people from our community), who have had a history of 'Christian abuse', can share freely without the layer of spiritual judgement. Freedom 2 be is very unique in that way.

Also reading back I can see how history is changing before our eyes! This week has been an amazing week for the gay community, especially in the USA! I am so thankful that I took that nervous step out of the closet into the unknown six and a half years ago …it has truly been the best part of my life to date! My only wish is that I should have done it earlier.
