I think peace also comes from purpose. As a life coach I’m sure you know far more than any of us about goal setting and purpose driven activity. There is peace in knowing where your life is headed and the sense of agnecy you get from deciding and working to accomplish something tangible. Maybe its more an inner peace and stillness of soul than anything. Cause I don’t do still, I don’t sit on a hilltop and comtemplate my navel or whatever, frankly… its so boring.

aaaaaaaaaah…….be still…….and know that I am God……..aaaaaaah 😀

the peace that passes all understanding……aaaaaaaaaaaah.

its almost like the most ultimate relief……..the biggest sigh of your life that lets go of all the stress, activity…judgements……problems…..hurts…..yep just about everything that ways us down.

he leads me beside still waters………restores my soul. Never had that in the midst of activity.

But I like activity 😆

Phillip Yancey once said that God asks us to look upward and not inward for dirrection and that has really stuck with me. I have zero patience for stuff like yoga or meditation, I know that it can be helpful to some, but really… so boring!

Maybe God replenishes us in different ways. An poignant church service is worth eight hundred million meditations to me. Working in ministry and seeing the way God works in peoples lives is far better than yoga any day. That sort of stuff builds my faith and relationship with God. Granted it doesn’t always bring a whole lot of peace, mostly it brings the sinking feeling at the end of the day when you get home and realise that you didn’t do all those mundane little things, like shower and eat and sleep and stuff 😆

maybe different things work for different people.

Thank you all for responding to my questions. Isn’t it funny how answers just lead to more questions …

Anyway, I appreciate hearing your thoughts. Thank you also for the banter Sandy and AVB – love the witt and humour.

lol, hey! I’ll have you know that I am nice all the time. For anyone who disagrees with me I’m free to discuss it friday night in the dark ally behind the crack house on 4th Street 😆 So nice.

Thanks for digging up that passage too, I hope you were joking about your dusty bible… that was a joke… right?

Oh geez Anthony you are sooo out of the loop! 😀 I was offered a job in San Deigo which hopefully you remember. The job wasn’t actually research but student assistance at the University of California over here. I help mostly international students with study skills, exam prep, essay writing and a whole lot of other stuff.

As an incentive to come over, the university offered to fund the completion of my social work degree and provide accommodation so I could study and work at the same time. This leaves time to sleep usually between the hours of 2am-6am, good thing I like to be active! Can you imagine if I had to fit yoga in as well? What a disaster. I have been doing this degree on and off for so long now its a bit sad. I was doing research before the move to the US so I guess you are only a few months behind. Its good to get out of it for a while… I think I was becoming a bit boring… and thats never a good thing 8) Wish me luck!

I know you’ll forgive me Sandy as you probably have some idea of how many peoples stories i hear every week. Trying to retrieve everyone’s details heard over the months has become impossible. Sometimes I think its a miracle that I actually remember peoples names 😆

Your summary has triggered the memory cells……..and now all the readers of the forum know what you are up to now as well.

……so…….good luck 😀
