Ian Tozer is Western Australian and He has been a supporter of gay and lesbian people since the 1970s. Descended from settlers on the Parmelia Ian is married to Marianne and has three sons. Ian has been a great supporter of Freedom2b since the start of the Perth Chapter in 2012.
He was ordained in 1982 and, apart from a year as a School Chaplain, he served in congregations for nineteen years: in the wheat belt of W.A., Perth suburban and central city congregations and in a central city congregation in Adelaide.
He completed most of his schooling in Collie, before study English and Philosophy at the U.W.A. While still a student, he candidated as a minister of the Presbyterian Church, although he completed his training in the Uniting Church.
Although he had a “year off” as a public servant in 1979, most of his working life has been as a minister.
In 2002, he took some years away from working as a minister while studying and then returned to a non-congregational ministry in the Uniting Church in W.A., first in a position working with congregations and ministers before moving to serve the educational ministries in the Church.
He enjoys reading and has wide interests. In recent years, he and Marianne have travelled each year.
Ian has a very important message to share regarding why he, as a straight, Uniting Church Minister, has been such strong supporter of GLBTIQ people.
We look forward to seeing you at this meeting and ask you to come along to show your support for one of our all important allies.
