freedom2b Sydney – April Meeting – Save Me / Prayers For Bobby

%PM %833 %Africa/Abidjan, %2012 %Friday:%Apr %p to %Friday:%Apr %p

For our next Sydney meeting, we will be showing two of the most requested films we have screened in the past and giving you the choice of which one you’d like to see.

In one room will be a screening of Save Me, the story about a sex and drug addicted young man who is forced into a Christian-run ministry in an attempt to cure him of his “gay affliction”. Instead he is faced with the truth in his heart and spirit.

Meanwhile, next door Prayers For Bobby will be screened, a story about Mary Griffith, a devout Christian, and her son Bobby who she learns is gay. While Bobby’s father and siblings slowly come to terms with his homosexuality, Bobby’s mother continues to believe that through prayer and church activities, he can be “cured”. Desperate for his mother’s approval, Bobby does what is asked of him, but through it all, the church’s apparent disapproval of homosexuality causes him to grow increasingly withdrawn and depressed.
