Special Guest Speaker Bibs Sowe
For our chapter meeting in October, we are pleased to be joined by special guest speaker Bibs Sowe. Bibs has been working for several years on a series of doctorate research projects specifically uncovering the real-world mental health impacts of religious prejudice on LGBTI people.
From growing up on a farm in rural Australia amidst conservative religious circles, he went to living and working in the middle of West Africa where the very real threat of death or life imprisonment for homosexuality continues to exist.
Bibs has a background working as a pastor, community worker, and small business manager overseas, and now currently works as an academic/research scientist in psychology at Macquarie University.
Bibs will show us a presentation on the general progress (and gaps) of knowledge in the field to date, and will outline the findings of his recently published scientific study in this area. He will also offer an exclusive first glimpse into some new preliminary data from an exciting large-scale research project that he recently conducted in the United States.
We look forward to welcoming Bibs back to freedom2b to listen to his incredible insights. Please join us as his talk is not to be missed.
