Dr Keith Mascord spent his whole life in conservative Christianity, culminating in 15 years as a lecturer at Moore College – the bastion of increasingly rigid theological thinking, a position promulgated by Sydney Anglicanism and still so harmful in the lives of many LGBTI people from faith backgrounds.
But…Keith has broken ranks and changed his understandings, documented in his recent books: ‘A Restless Faith: leaving fundamentalism in a quest for God’ and ‘Faith without Fear: risky choices facing contemporary Christians’.
At our meeting in October, Keith will be our special guest and share something of this journey of change and help us understand why he is now a ‘straight ally’. The way he asseses possible change of attitude within the church is fascinating. Be ready to ask some probing questions to a wonderful, extremely practical, thinker.
