In recent months, a number of apologies from groups conducting reparative therapy have been given. The relevance of these groups is disappearing fast as more and more people are becoming aware of the fact that a person cannot change their sexuality, and that lasting damage can be done if it’s even attempted.
A young man in Memphis, Tenessee named Zach attended one of these “Fundamentalist Christian” programs, and wrote about his experiences on his MySpace blog as the program attempted to turn gay teens straight.
For our meeting in September we take a look at a wonderful documentary that follows Zach’s inspirational story, showing his local community standing up for their friend with daily protests at the facility where the program is run in what would become an international news story.
