Misty Misty Farquhar is the Manager for True Colours and the Safe Schools project based near here in Vic Park.

 What is True Colours?

Young people have a lot going on already, but those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender, or intersex are more likely to experience discrimination and mental health

issues, particularly in rural areas. True Colours directly supports young LGBTIQ people in the South West, and also works with schools and the broader community to raise awareness and break down the barriers to safe and inclusive communities.

Information, support and advocacy for young people and their families, including individual support, peer groups, and referrals.

Working collaboratively with schools to implement strategies that challenge bullying and better support LGBTIQ students. This includes professional development for teachers/other staff, student workshops, assistance with the development of policies and provision of resources.

Professional development and education on a range of topics including sexuality/sex/gender and identity, language and labels, impacts of discrimination and creating LGBTIQ friendly services and supports.
