We have the pleasure of welcoming respected church leader Rev Nicole Fleming along to our October chapter meeting, who’ll be sharing with us her journey through the Uniting Church to becoming an ordained minister.
Rev Fleming served as a youth worker in Dubbo for 11 years before moving into the Uniting Church NSW Synod Youth Unit where she was ordained. During this time, she was “out” about her same-sex relationship, which made… her journey towards ordination an interesting one.
She has recently become the leader of a Sydney suburban parish, a first for a major Christian denomination in Australia, gaining coverage in the Sydney Morning Herald and the leading LGBT press.
In addition to her ministry, she loves live music, knitting wonderful jumpers and is also currently studying a Masters of Arts in Public and Contextual Theology degree and is putting together a website through the Uniting Church for young people coming out in a Christian context, which she will also be speaking about.
Surely not a night to be missed.
