Don’t Throw The Baby Out With The Bathwater
At our next Sydney Chapter meeting (Friday 7th August) we have a very special guest speaker, Des Penny.
Des is a former Assemblies of God minister. We reconnected a few months ago after 30 years. Last time we saw each other we were both married, in the ministry and trying to live the ‘heterosexual lifestyle’. Des’s family has been well known in Assemblies of God circles for decades with his father being the National Superintendent of the AOG both in Australia and New Zealand and his brother on the National Executive.
Des is now an author, motivational speaker and recognised entrepreneur in his field.
In 1993, following his vision to create positive leadership centres across Australia, Des took a ‘leap of faith’ and commenced Proteus Enterprises. Proteus Enterprises now operates in Sydney, Melbourne. Brisbane and Adelaide with plans to expand into New Zealand and Asia.
In 2008, Des’s company won Best Educational Services company in the Small Business Champion Awards in SA. Des also won South Australian Entrepreneur of the year in the same awards.
At this special event Des will share his journey from married man, father of four children, successful evangelist and pastor, facing the reality that he is gay to where he is today.
Des lives n Melbourne with his partner of 10 years, Richard .
