This column is about Brendan Burke, the son of Brian Burke, who is the general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs and also 2010 US Olympic ice hockey team. I hope you all are as blessed by this story as I was. 🙂

I read this story and it reminded me of my own situation … then when I read the bit “OK, Burkie’s gay. Who cares? Pass the beer nuts.” I said yeah … this is the attitude that’s so sorely needed in todays society ie let’s not make a big deal out of someones sexual orientation … we’re just like anyone else ❗

I also think that, on a deeper level, this story proves what has already been discussed on the forum, namely the process of coming out to various family members and friends to provide a support base, and establishing ones personal integrity and morality with a view to being the best person you can be.
