Coming from a new study – “What, Another Female Husband?”: The Prehistory of Same-Sex Marriage in America

Extract here http://jah.oxfordjournals.org/content/101/4/1055.extract

( Sorry – The full study is subscription only. If anyone is really really interested to know what is in the full study PM me and I can discuss it with you )

Is the story of The improbable, 200-year-old story of one of America’s first same-sex ‘marriages’

Within months, Bryant rented a one-room apartment and asked Drake to become her roommate and wife. It may sound like something from a 21st-century vows column, but this romance predates most newspapers’ style sections — by about two centuries.

“Our popular narrative of same-sex marriage says it’s this brand new thing, But the reality is that it came over with human migration”

With Same Sex Marriage such a hot topic in the USA and Australia right now I thought some MAY find this interesting.

What are people's thoughts on this – these days ? In the USA, the momentum has accelerated and in Aus – there is growing pressure to allow a conscience vote which will mean it would likely pass (as I understand it)
