I’m sitting here reading Tony Payne and Phillip Jenen’s book ‘Pure Sex’ and I’m so incensed that I can’t help but post about it. It’s beyond belief that Koorong and Matthias Media can sell this crap.

As a conservative Christian I am totally disgusted. It’s blantant sensationalism.

Many say that the Sydney Morning Herald is not the fine broadsheet it once was, but for capturing the mood of our time it still has few equals…a better summary of the prevailing sexual climate would be hard to find.

First there is the article entitled “Queer, really Queer” about developments in cutting edge gay and lesbian theatre. ‘Queer’, as the genre of performance is called, is a growing movement at “the artistic frontier, where perversity, pain and pornography reign”. It’s a “powerful and empowering sensibility” that goes well beyond the narrow confines of the term ‘gay’. It’s an exciting form of performance art, mixing dance, theatre, cabaret, pornography, circus, shamanism, sex work and sado-masochism. Queer artists like per.ver.sity, Vyl, Miss Fit, Trash Vaudeville and The Bum Puppets, do everything and anything on stage, claiming to offer “plenty of laughs and something to offend everyone”. Accordingly, their audiences often find themselves splattered wth faeces and vomit. And lest we think that this form of entertainment is the preserve of a small, marginalised sub-culture, the article trumpets the fact that Queer is gaining acceptance at a wider level, and is the beginning of the journey towards mainstream…Here is sex at it’s most ‘free’, even if the ‘freedom’ involves whips and chains.

It must also be pointed out that we have come along way in the last 35 years. Many readers of the SMH in 1962 would, like Queen Victoria, have found it hard to imagine that such practises existed. Now the SHM not only tells us of their existence, but beathlessly promotes them.

I really am at a loss for words…

How can a publication by two christian authors equate that as the prevailing sexual climate, or more specifically the prevailing sexual, gay climate…

I know Phillip Jensen, I met him at National Training Event last year, he’s a nice guy. It’s hard to believe it’s the same person.

I think this is going to take a few days to process to come back with a reply for me……..its terrible!!!!!!!!!

Ok had a pray….Thank goodness I serve the Lord and not what the media says or even the opinions of either ministry or others. Also, as long as I know who I am and who I am not people could sling what they want in their ignorance, I will still be me and not what I am portrayed as. If I get angry, then they point the finger and say “see” but if I stay calm and just be me and Love as Jesus would love then people who think this or portray this about me will have no ammunition to use against me…………..it is hard at the best of times but not reacting and holding and supporting each other through stuff like this speaks louder than any yelling or screaming or debating we could ever come up with……The most moving protests and most successful protests on a grand scale were the ones held in peace in the face of adversity…..Lets hold our heads high, God loves us and we know that we dont do the things mentioned in the above. One person may start the fire of an arguement but if no-one says anything, they look silly arguing on their own…….I am sorry for the person/s who wrote this, it is really quite sad and hold nothing against them. ( I also thank the input of two dear people 2nite ) )

seriously someone should offer for them to stay in there house for one week. I would be happy to if they were Australian. They can experience first hand the life of a same sex couple… find out just how boring we are!!!

LOL……..Now how true is that…………..I will have to hide the stage I have out the back of my house that I use for my “queer” Punch and Judy show. wink But it is a brilliant idea to have some people stay with us.

maybe we should set up a service where we take people for a week at a time for a better understanding. Set up a group where they can come, experience and understand just how normal we are. They do say it only takes one person… and it only takes a personal understanding and knowledge

its not to convert people on their belief. Because, i think that is a process and a personal process. We are just a stepping stone for understanding and knowledge

I’ve jsut read the gay agenda Sandy which if full of that kind of sensationalism and fearmongering. I was horrified as well. No wonder so many christians actually hate us if that is the only thing they read……..sensationalist christian literature…..and I use the term literature loosely.

I’m sure the gay adgenda is just as bad, even the title sounds dodgey. I guess I was just really saddened. I know Phillip Jensen personally and I was really shocked that someone I respect as a Christian could write something like that. I guess it’s all just hitting home. I kind of expect alot of my non-christian gay friends to make wild accusations about Christianity, their moral standards are what they make them. But for Christians our moral standards are above and beyond anything we would ever set for ourselves given the choice. We ought to be the example to the nations not contributers to such blantant discrimination and fabrication. I can hardly blame my non-christian friends for their opinions now can I? 😥 It all just makes me really sad and tired, getting to the truth seems like a David and Golliah battle.

I wholeheartedly agree with your analogy Sandy, I am sure God is watching with expectation and excitement at how we first wrestle the lions and bears before we get to finally bringing down our goliath, which is ignorance…..Its obvious to me now more so than ever that the enemy is trying its best to keep us away from church and if be it, sadly, using some of the people from church to do so…….But the shift is coming, Anthony has started something that cant and wont be stopped now, God is all for those who are misunderstood and thus mistreated, if HE is for us then truly who can be against us. Jesus died for us all.

Lets just be available to God to be of service to him the best way we know how, in HIS strength.
