On our new website we will have a page of FAQ’s

This will be in a simple question answer format.

think for a moment ….if you were a closeted gay man/lesbian in a church or had to leave your church because of your sexual orientation…….and knew very little about these things what questions would you like to ask about:

1. homosexuality itself

2. homosexuality and Christianity

3. freedom 2 b[e]

the questions need to be simple…something people can scan and read in few minutes. Eg

1. Can I be a Christian and gay?

2. Is homosexuality a choice?

3. Doesn’t the bible condemn homosexuality?

What would be your top 12? Please post them in order of importance the most important being No. 1.

looking forward to seeing what you come up with…..thanks for your help

Hi Avb

Not sure if you still want more questions. The ones listed are excellent. The only one I thought to perhaps add is:

What do other religions/spiritual faiths say about homosexuality?

Although this site is for those from pentecostal/evangelical Christian backgrounds, making this the main consideration of focus for faith dilemmas, there are also some of us who have integrated other faiths into our spirituality.

Cheers,

1. What moral framework exists for the gay Christian?

2. In what circumstance is it moral for a gay Christian to express their love physically (sex) with a partner?

3. How does the gay Christian respond to churches that believe homosexual behaviour is a sin? (in the context of being a leader / holding a ministry position and getting kicked out)

4. How can I be most effective in reaching out to other gay Christians?

Ok, well they may not be FAQ’s, but they are the questions burning on my heart right now at this time of my life. Feel free to answer any of them now if you want 🙂

Hi JJ

These are excellent questions.

I’m not sure I have any answers but think it would be really good to have responses available in relation to those who think it’s a sin, not so much to prove anything to them but just to feel OK within the self.

I believe in love, holding firm to the knowledge that God can’t be against that since He is love. I also think that if some Christians and others were as committed to loving people as they are to delving into controversial issues, then these sorts of questions and the pain of rejection for GLBTIQ people would never need to come up.

I don’t mind if others have different points of view as long as they can put differences aside in order to maintain a focus on love. I think that any belief or idea that interferes or distracts from love, in myself or others, needs to be looked and questioned.

Good to see you here, JJ. 🙂
