Gay welcoming but not gay affirming.

I would applaud Hybels on this speech.


He may not be gay affirming but he has made significant steps to welcome LGBT people into his church. Firstly, he cut all ties with exodus international a couple years ago and now he no longer refers people to ex-gay programs. Secondly, he is willing to speak about homosexuality. Thirdly, Hybels is willing to enter into a discussion with the LGBT community and with people who think differently.


I think Aussie church leaders such as Brian Houston, Phil Pringle and Peter Jensen could learn alot from Hybels. From what I have seen there are very few leaders and many followers.


In the next ten years Hybels will become more gay affirming. 🙂

I have just sent Bill an email. You might remember from my autobiography that I sort of discovered his church in the late 80’s….used to take pastors to his conference and was instrumental in introducing his ministry to Australia in 1990.


we will see what happens.
