Hi everyone,

The American website Believe Out Loud posted this video recently about what it means to be a welcoming (LGBTI affirming) church. In this video church leaders share practices they’ve implemented to welcome the LGBTI community.

If you are having problems with the above video then you can also watch it here: http://www.believeoutloud.com/learn/video/how-be-welcoming

What other practices can church leaders implement to welcome the LGBTI community?

Thanks for posting this Ben.

I think it needs to be explicitly stated in the Church Mission statement that LGBTI people are welcomed and accepted wholeheartedly. And the Mission statement should be online and in any other documentation to do with the church.

Church involvement in PFLAG and other similar groups also communicates that the church is truly accepting and won't be trying to change LGBTI folk.

Accepting churches can also contact the Gay and Lesbian Switchboard, JOY FM, f2b and other community groups to let them know they are accepting of LGBTI people.

Blessings,

Ann Maree
