Sy Rogers is transgendered? Wow I’m totally out of the loop on this one. I have heard his name connected with places like Exodus and know that he features in some ‘educational’ features for the ex-gay and conservative stances but thats about it. Any other bombshells I should know about?

yep…..sy was living as a woman for 2 years and about to go for surgery when he was converted.

When he tells his story people assume that means he was a homosexual. Sometimes he makes it clear…..other times the language gets confusing for the uneducated in these areas.

For those who are bit more read about these things know that transgenderism and sexual orientation are very differenet things. It seems that with MTF about half are same sex oriented and half are opposite sex attracted.

Another bombshell……….anthony venn-brown is gay…….. 😆

NO WAY! Really? Anthony you have been holding out on us! 😆 I mean weren’t you married? Don’t you have kids? Why would you give that up just to kiss a guy? Because thats all homosexuals do is kiss, I have it on very good authority 😆 Ok I’ll stop now. Your a funny bloke sometimes.

Well there you go I never knew that about Sy, is he planning on taking up where he left off with the female thing? It’s not really something I understand, maybe its a bit of a scary concept for me to try and get my head around…. Hmmm.

I hope it didn’t shock you tooooo much with little revelation about me…….hehe.

No Sy will never live as a transgendered person. He is very happy now as a married man with a family. The story is very complex, transgenderism, sexual abuse, dysfunctional upbringing, self destructive life style.

God it seems can transform so much of our past…..but for some reason leaves the sexual orientation alone…..just changes behaviours.

Please remember that i’m not actually answering or speaking for Sy…..just my observations…….if you are reading this Sy please feel free to pop in and correct anything i’ve said that is a false assumption.

As I said to Sy the night I met with him…….”I have to remind people that unless they actually hear directly from my mouth…..everything they think about me is an assumption” You should hear some of the things going around about what i am planning on doing and what I actually believe. Apparently one is that my goal is to become Australia’s first gay (open/practicing) AoG minister…….that one really cracked me up.

I guess people can’t help make assumptions and judgements as they take limited information and filter it though thier own preconcieved ideas.

He should write a book I’d like to read it, lol I really need help. Do they have a book-a-holics anonymous? Thankyou for your assumptions and observations.

He may have moved on, but he left a lot of sincere lives destroyed and it takes so much more to undo the damages that he did. Ministering to ex-ex-gay folks (ex-choices) is very tough.

I would encourage Sy to do the right thing and to apologize for it will start the healing process. That is the very very least he could to.

i dont think he is at that place yet lamb………or has come to the total realisation that so many of us are free gay and lesbian people of faith with a strong sense of morality and integrity. I’m sure he views much (as we all do) through the filter of personal experience. As I read his story then I see a complex tortured path of sexual abuse, transgenderism and a same sex orientation. Not everyone in our GLBTIQ world actually understands all that let alone ill informed christians in churches.

Our journeys are long……for me 28 years from when I realised i was homosexual to finally being so happy with myself I would never in my wildest dreams want to change who i am. I think we have to allow others their journey as well.

Maybe it would speed up the process if all those who felt that Sy’s previous literature etc and send them on a self-loathing path but have now come to to peace and reconciliation emailed him and told him about the negative impacts of what he has said in the past……and even now.

Of course the way it is communicated will determine its impact. Attacking Sy will not open the door……thats the way I think. I just know the way people communicate with me…..those who respectfully question I engage with ………those who are angry and attack me……mostly i ignore.

it takes a deep and real spirituality i feel to be gracious and respectful. otherwise we become like the people who oppose us. Thats an awful thought.

does that make sense.

having said that I do empathise with those who have been hurt and harmed by the ill-informed teachings in churches and by groups such as Choices…….which still continues…unfortunately

it is only now (30 years after the birth of the movement) a lot of former ex-gay leaders are saying sorry……..

http://alifeofunlearning.blogspot.com/2007/08/five-of-australias-ex-gay-leaders.html

lets pray that one day Sy has found a place to say that. It will be a very courageous step……..that would cost him a lot.

I am having great difficulty to minister to ex-choices people (so called ex-ex-gay) and find it sad. There are hours and hours of ministry work involved and people’s lives are badly impacted. There isn’t enough laborers to go around to follow up. And perhaps many would never step foot in the church again.

Whilst accepting that the walk to freedom takes time as individuals even decades, the responsibility and ownership as leaders must be taken very seriously even under mitigating circumstances for the impact is very great.

There is no particular mileage in dwelling on the past or even take them to tasks, for it does not bring back lives. But to seek God for His grace and mercy and to forgive that God may do a special work in our midst.

You do a wonderful work Lamb……keep it up.

everyone of us must answer and be responsible for what we do……..lets just do the right thing and leave the rest up to God……..or is that too simplistic.
