i have been accused by a school i work at for being immoral.

Apparently parents have notified the school of their concerns. The senior pastor did not come out and say ‘homosexuality/gay’ but he asked continually if i was living an immoral life, against christian teaching.

Should i stay or should i go?

Far out ooooooo, I would ask what they mean by that statement. What they are implying. I wish I could help you more on this but I wouldnt leave just yet, I would try to make a stand. I know Iain can help you, I’d suggest you pm him and Anthony too. I will pray in the meantime. Hang in there.

well i know they are referring to me being gay

my kids use to go to that school and have some friends and some ex friends (now ex cos they found out their friends dad is gay)

i only work there part time

due to other things in my life in the past i have little strength to fight them on this on any legal grounds.

i had been planning on leaving at the end of the year so maybe this is just the right time, just a bit earlier than i had planned?????

thanks for the prayer and i will txt anthony but i do not know Iain

what is his profile name?

ooooooo it is your choice if you tell them. You do not have to answer their qestion. Your life is not immoral, so you can honestly say no.

It is entirely up to you what you do. We are here to support you no matter what choice you make. You have to weigh up the costs and whether you feel ready to deal with the consequences… whether you want to control your coming out, or just continue in the place you are at…

Im sorry your having to go through this. really sorry….

I was ‘found out’ by the Christian school where I was teaching. I had come out to my friends and family a few days before, and somehow the word spread through the grapevine and reached the chairman of the school board. At the school’s request I resigned – I was still so unsure of how my new-found sexuality would fit in with my Christianity that I gave in. I regret it now. By leaving I was basically agreeing that I was wrong. I know it would have been difficult to stay – many of the parents in the school community would have taken a stand against me, but as I talked to my friends amongst the teaching staff they gave me whole-hearted support and would have stood with me if I had remained.

The question that I try not to think about it: what message about homosexuality did I present to the students?

You’re in a tough position, but be sure of yourself. You are not immoral. You are not in the wrong.

thanks to everyone for all you shared.

it is a tough one. I had planned on resigning at the end of the year from both jobs because of wanting to pursue other avenues of employment in line with my uni studies i am currently doing.

I appreciate all you have said, i decided to resign although i did not want to go out like this.

I was really apprehensive. But you know, the second i decided to resign, for me, it felt right. Not relief but actually right, like it needed to be done.

Well here goes, the next chapter in my life has just started.

thanks everyone

Hi C1739, so glad to hear from you on F2B. D

I dont think you presented a bad message of homosexuality to the students at all, kids are pretty amazing and switched on in many ways better than their parents, Im sure if anything a lot of them wouldve thought how sad you had to leave and that it sucked it was because you were found out as Gay. The others, well, they are influenced by the parents anyhow and church and at the moment would be flowing with that.

You did what you believed was right at the time, dont beat yourself up for that.

Terry, so glad you are comfortable about your decision, its so empowering when you decide to do something and it actually feels like the right thing to do, Gods obviously got some great plans ahead for you.

Hi ooooooo and C1739,

I just wanted to thank you both for having such a profound effect on people’s lives. You just never know what happened before and after you have left the school. The one thing you both have taught is that its ok to be gay and no one should put up with crap. You both have preserved yourself and honoured God in doing so. The people who would have stood by you will do well in life and those who didn’t wont do well in life… there will always be an element in their lives that is unresolved… they will also have to answer to God when their time comes.

Please always think that God has plans for your lives and where you both will go. There is nothing to be ashamed of… 🙂

thanks to both Craigs.

yes it is true – God does have a plan for us all and as with everyone else’s, mine is unravelling bit by bit. It is very interesting, i have been reflecting alot lately on past prphetic words i have had over me and dreams and visions i have had personally. They did not all make too much sense at one point or just did not know how they would fit into my life as i knew it then. More and more i see things clearer now, very exciting, yet very scary (in a positive way). Very humbling.

cheers everyone
