Ok Anthony you have shamed me into joining the discussion.

I have a confession to make… I’m a lurker! I’ve struggled with it for a long time. Drop in and see what people are saying. Then wander on with my daily life without a word. Well now I’m out.

F2b has been a great venue for me to come to a greater understanding of my Pente background and my sexuality. The struggle continues but I’m slowly coming to grips with how the two can operate somewhat in harmony. In some ways my spiritual life is actually growing since I’ve started this journey of discovery.

Thanks everyone for your encouraging comments and interesting insights to life and the journey.

😆 😆 😆 Me very happy now Walaby64……….not that i’ve outed you…..but that whilst you were in the shadows our chats have helped you. It takes time to work this thing out……..in the early stages i find that many of us feel like we are just self justifying.

Hi all… wow this is great reading about how F2b has been an instrument of sharing and thinking about where we were before and after…. I think it adds more of clarity that we all seem to get as we unravel our thoughts and beliefs… and reading into what others have said and some of our minds have been been blown to bits too with answers. I know that we do all the working out bits on F2b feeling safe to say what we are thinking. I never thought this was a AVB site… I thought that Anthony was skilled in adding comments to move things along… adding things to challenge us to think about what we say.

A few post back I mentioned

Oh no Anthony, that’s just so terrible what will they think? How will they cope? We need a special house for them to get all the support they need… where straight people go and that place is earmarked only to employ GLBT people Gosh we can’t have those ummmm lovely happy people rolling out as you know ummm “gay”. The world will never be the same again.

AND amen to that… I do believe we do have a roll to play in the christian community… mine is to plead with God as to letting me be an instrument of catching others who are falling and need reassurance that our heavenly father never hated them for being different.

I did that in jest because we all been throught some heavy experiences and I have seen so many horrible cases… and to jest the regular people in seeing things from our perspective.

It was ok for us to be pushed through the wringers to feel confused, upset, suicidial, scared, angry, fearful and its ok for those who are not experiencing what we feel to condemn us, to speak ill of us, to spread lies and homophobia and add more stress on us by confronting us and questioning us like they were in the right… then I realised the question…” how were they to know any better?”, they had no resources to go by and only mimic what their superiors have said, and the body of Christian shakers and movers – they control and encourage homophobic actions … this is why we believed we were depraved evil beings. Yet, we were none of those… and yet we believed it… how powerful are the words of mankind… F2b helped break that chain of untruths that locks our mind and thoughts into very damaging patterns – that could have been mental health issues.

I hope this site will continue to be just that for all of us to be able to read and think and discuss issues. I thank the bravest group of people who got into this site, put so much energy to make a dream come true and for that… we are coming together to discuss the very thing that has us entrapped – I seriously believe that its good remedity and minimise mental health issues for us and those in the future.

Hmmmm

I’m sure Craig that most people are unaware of the mental health issues the perceived conflict between your faith and your sexuality can have…..we are only just now becoming aware ourselves.

I would agree with that comment Anthony about sometimes only realising later the impact of the conflict we encounter regarding our faith and sexuality. What amazes me is that the church teaches us that confusion comes from the devil and yet that is what it is dishing out at us in regards to our faith just because we are gay/lesbian. There are many beautiful christians around, many many but its a shame the pharisees and saducees are also amongst them. Jesus would never have treated us like the church treats us today. I wonder how well the church at large from leadership level knows Jesus at all if they cant act and behave with the same grace and love that he did and does.

I only realised by accident – most of the time I am looking forward into the present to the future and avoid going into the past. Sometimes I just relax and its only natural that I look to the past to be able to see where I came from and it became so clear that I was under a lot of pressure and stress. What I know today I wish I knew back then, it would have been different. I suppose its wishful thinking but once in a while I sometimes wondered if things were not so bad back then, I wonder what kind of a person I would be today. 😐

The bible says that God will never test us beyond our ability to cope. Its an assurance that whatever I go through in life… if I can trust in God and hold onto his presence… I will survive. 🙂

I think leaders in question are in a lot fo fear and don’t get enough support from more experienced people or provision via their bible college. 🙁 .. my church is going to be running issues about “hot potatoes” and one of them is shhhhhhh “is about gay!” 😯 so I plan to go and listen in. But before I do go in, I plan to spend a bit of time meditating on God’s word, draw myself closer to G-d and then go there ready to serious question their statements. 😀 Its time to move on… get over it. I think that’s what is happening… we are talking about these issues and quirks that comes up… and sharing our experiences so when we encounter statements that are not truthfull we can then speak out. I plan to put water to their statement and ask if they are Gay or have been gay all their lives and naturally they will say no… then I can say well since there are no other Gays here then I think its the christian principle that we don’t talk behind their backs 🙄 (remember Im not out in the Church and have no desire as I have said in my earlier postings… I have nothing to be ashamed of and frankly its none of their business… I mean I don’t go around asking if they are hetrosexuals and asking what type of intercourse they commonly practice). 😆

lol Gees I wouldnt want to know LOL……..You are right there is a lot of fear and its sad that people live under any sort of fear. Its not a great analogy but it reminds me of when an animal is afraid or hurt, you could have all the best intentions in the world to help it but because it doesnt know you or isnt familiar with you, it doesnt think twice about attacking you or even killing you.

Proverbs sums it up well in human terms “people perish due to lack of knowledge” and it doesnt necessarily mean the ones that are unknowledgable, the people perishing could be the ones perishing at the hands of those who are ignorant. It goes both ways, be ignorant and you perish or be ignorant and you cause many to perish.

it provides a cyber-space where queer folk can discuss the issues of their respective faith journeys

Surprisingly this is the only open Christian www dialogue happening in oz at the moment – doesn’t that say volumes about the capacity of the church to engage with the people in the pews!?

Yeah right on… it gets tiring for me to sit back and see where they are coming from. I hear success stories about gay man being completely cured. Its hard to explain that we can suppress our “gay stuff” and function sexually in a straight relationship but our orientation will always be strongy gay. Just that we are standing up for who we are and trying to find acceptance. I only hope that I can influence them to not look at Gay being an issue but a challenge to them. I had a male friend upon finding out that I was gay… was worried because I’d fancy him… it was just painfully clear when I tried talking to him… I ended up saying to him that he isn’t my type… and too ugly for me. He joked back and said… “you don’t like me?”. We are good friends and that counts.

I think everyone in the church that I go to will be shocked because I don’t fit into their sterotype of what a Gay man would be like. Sigh… but I will grab that book and put in my bag incase the topic comes up.

The only thing we can do is ask God to step in… I’m one of those who will go into intercessery prayers and try and intervene as much as I can to help break down the barriers. Hmmmmm smile.

Keep up the interceeding Craig, if not for the prayer warriors we wouldnt have as much headway as we do and many lives are covered. The prayer of a righteous man does much D How true!!

Im glad you dont fit into the stereotype some people who know that you are gay assume you would be, I think that is the very mould we need to break sometimes and have people see that we are very ordinary, like anybody else and that our personal lives are like anybody elses whether we be single or partenered. Ive used the same line as you Craig too in saying “youre not my type” LOL ) it seems to break the ice.

( I hope my comment about “stereotype” isnt taken to mean that there is anything wrong with stereotypes, we usually all get classed as being the same but we know how different we all are and no one homosexual is the same as the other, though in some ways some of us have similarities that give us away, again nothing wrong with that)
