One of the greatest interpreters of dreams who ever lived, according to the Bible was Joseph, son of Israel. I believe Daniel also interpreted dreams.

Among my friends and family, I am known (even the Christian ones) for an ability to analyse (I don’t like ‘interpret’) dreams, but I don’t do a lot of it any more. I think the person best qualified to unravel the message in a dream, is the dreamer, but I have always been a tad annoyed by the swiftness with which some people label dream interpretation as “New Age” or “Occult” when dreams were interpreted by “Men of God” in the Bible.

*puts the soap box away*

Now, AVB? Kermit?!? :~

Dear everyone,

Kermit is not evil.

But Bunsen Honeydew definitely is. Instead of being a good man of science, whose moral fiber demands the strictest codes of ethical behavior and respect for his colleagues in his pursuit of knowledge, he has demonstrated what Einstein dubbed “Lame Conscience”.

He creates dangerous devices, and tests them in front of a live audience who have no protection other than a few feet of distance. Not only that but he frequently abuses his assistant, Beaker causing him to be maimed and humiliated with every experiment. All of this done NOT for the sake of gaining knowledge (and thus growing closer to God), NOT for the sake of helping the human race as a whole (his devices are created with the intent of being sold to the highest bidder), and certainly NOT for the sake of advancing the field (his work is not tested in a way that any review board would approve of).

No. Bunsen Honeydew does it all for himself, for his pride, and for his drive to line his own pockets.

That is true evil.

Yours,

Raul

Yep, I’m with you on that one Meg. I think we need to keep an open mind on the possibilities behind dreams and visions, and your points about Joseph and Daniel from the Bible are excellent case studies for Christians of all persuasions.

Hmmm, I’m not too sure where this thread is now headed :~ :~ :~ What have I created? :O 🙂

I always was concerned about the possible dangers of some of those “experiments”. I guess putting it all into context back in the 80s and early 90s we as a society weren’t too worried about being politically correct! Nowadays we (rightly) have very strict control and governance around what we see in the media. I wonder if certain episodes of the Muppets would pass muster now?

Hey everyone

Dreams, visions, day dreams, art work and creative pursuits are all great ways to receive wisdom and for us to hear from our higher selves and God. They get us in touch with intuitive processes and the unconscious where the truth is often waiting to be revealed. They bypass a lot of the cognitive chatter and defences that distract from what’s really going on.

I agree that dream interpretation was cited in biblical times so this can’t then be labelled as “New age”. It’s a common phenomenon across cultures and religions. The experience of visions are also cited in both old and new testaments as a way of receiving understanding, insight &/or prophetic knowledge, so not something just for hippies taking mind altering drugs! 🙂

People might also be surprised to know that reincarnation, commonly associated with hinduism, was also acceptable to many early Christians and integrated into their beliefs. Just something to think about..

As for the muppets and what’s socially acceptable, you’re right, Pierre. The politically correct line seems to move within different circles and times. And so we might often be shocked when we look back and see a different interpretation to what we’d use now. The context is different and it’s difficult for us to grasp that unless we remember or experienced those times.

Blessings,

Good point Ann Maree. Some people also make the common mistake of saying they’re “not the creative type”. We are all creative in our own unique ways. The book that I’m currently reading asserts that humans have multiple levels of intelligence across many different fields. The apparent trick is knowing how to unlock the potential in each of those areas.

Yes, thanks for saying that, Pierre. I couldn’t agree more. We are all creative and creativity shows itself in many, many forms. 🙂

I took a week studying dream interpretation in psychology. Basically dreams are your subconscious ideas coming to live. Like have you ever been thinking about some scenario in your head during the day when your suppose to be working? Well when this happens at night it becomes more cinema like. has some great resources for looking through what the dream you had possibly meant.

Hi jaydwoods

It’s a fascinating subject isn’t it? Welcome to the forum by the way! 🙂

Please feel free to share some of your story in the ‘Telling Our Stories’ section. It would be good to hear about you and how you heard about us.
